More than ten years after ABC sitcom "Home Improvement" went off the air, Tim Allen is set to star in another multi-camera comedy on the network titled "Man Up."
ABC has ordered a pilot for the show after engaging in a heated bidding war with CBS who was also interested in the family series.
However, given Allen's presumed involvement and the network's move towards family comedies on Wednesday nights, it seemed like a better fit for ABC.
If the deal goes through, the "Toy Story 3" actor would play "a guy fighting for his manhood in a world of women."
Allen, 57, has been reportedly looking for a new TV project for awhile, with this appearing to be the perfect role for his big return.
"Home Improvement" ran for eight seasons during the 1990s, helping ABC become a ratings powerhouse, and remaining one of the most successful sitcoms of all times.
This would be Tim Allen's first role on TV since the show ended in 1999, when he went on to star in such films as "The Santa Claus," "Wild Hogs," and "Shaggy Dog."
"Man Up" comes from the mind of veteran comedy writer/ producer Jack Burditt, whose credits include "30 Rock," 'The New Adventures of Old Christine," "Just Shoot Me," and "Frasier."
